Registration date of nursing homes extended
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, July 10
The date for registration of hospitals (both government and private) and nursing homes under the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Act has been extended till July 15.

The Director Family Welfare, Dr M.P Minocha, said today that all nursing homes, which are having genetic clinic, counselling and genetic laboratory, to get registered with the Director Health Services, UT, by July 15 positively. The application forms are available in the office of Director Family Welfare, Health Centre, Sector 22, on all working days. The registeration of the diagnostic centres, nursing homes and laboratories will enable them to identify the places from where the bio-medical waste is to be collected before transporting the same to the PGI.

It may be recalled that the nursing homes in the city had recently reached an agreement with the PGI for incineration of their bio-medical waste. Following this the Central Pollution Control Committee had asked them to get authorisation certificates before June 15 so that the bio-medical waste can be disposed off scientifically after proper segregation.

Further to solve the problem of transportation, the Indian Medical Association ( IMA) had tied up with a Delhi-based firm for delivering the bio-medical waste from the backyard of the nursing homes to the incinerator at the PGI at the cost of Rs 20 per kg.

Prerak (II) is a student of Hansraj Public School, Panchkula, and took to badminton at the age of seven and had his initial coaching at the badminton court of Community Centre Sector 7, Panchkula.

It was Ravinder Kapoor, coach with the Department of Sports, who has moulded Prerak to a promising young player. Mention must also be made of his Principal Rajni Thareja for extending all help as far as school was concerned. The District Badminton Association, Panchkula and also the State Association for the game had also promoted him by giving him exposure through various tournaments.

In 1999, Prerak played in the Haryana Open at Rohtak when she was only nine years old. In the following year he became a runner-up in the under-10 singles event in the Pachkula District Championship.
