Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, July 9
Various druggists’ associations have assured to extend their cooperation to the administration and police against the druggists and chemists indulging in malpractices. Speaking at a seminar organised by the Civil Lines Chemists Association here last evening, the representatives of various associations said that they were themselves perturbed over the drug abuse and were ready to provide all cooperation to anyone coming forward against this abuse.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ashok Singla, president of the association, said the profession of a chemist was noble and respectable. The association will not stand by the chemists selling spurious drugs or selling drugs in unauthorised manner.

Drug Inspector Ajay Singla urged the chemists not to sell intoxicant medicines because large number of youth were hooked to opium, poppy and poppy husk. Mr Singla said chemists should properly maintain a record of medicines purchased from wholesale druggists to avoid unnecessary harassment.

Mr Ajay Singla said that department would shortly issue notices to the chemists advising them to preserve the documents of their transactions.
