While officials of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited sought to attribute it to the heavy rains which lashed Ludhiana during the night and in the morning today, the fact is that the telephone services had been entirely paralysed since yesterday.

Lack of basic amenities resented

Civic services in private hands now
Ludhiana, June 22
In its move to further push the privatisation of civic services, the Municipal Corporation has decided to hand over the Nehru Planetarium in the Rose Garden and some 250-odd garbage container sites to private parties for maintenance. The civic body has also entrusted the sinking of five tubewells and their operation and maintenance for a period of five years to private contractors, on experimental basis.Top
