Heavy rain likely in Uttaranchal

Summary of observations recorded at 8.30 am (IST): The southwest monsoon has further advanced into more parts of Uttar Pradesh. Conditions are favourable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into the remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh during the next two days.

Summary of observations recorded at 8.30 am (IST): The southwest monsoon has further advanced into more parts of Uttar Pradesh. Conditions are favourable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into the remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh during the next two days.

Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at a few places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and east Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in Punjab. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Haryana: Jagadhari 5, Bahadurgarh and Rewari 2 each, and Gohana 1; Himachal Pradesh: Kangra 2 and Jubbal and Nagrota Surian 1; each, Rajasthan: Bayana and Sirohi 4 each, Jalore, Jaswantpura, Pilani and Talera 3 each, Ajan, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Baretha, Dewas, Hingota and Sawalahead 2 each, and Bundi, Kota and Udaisagar 1 each; Uttar Pradesh: Jhansi 9, Dalmau 6, Ankinghat 4, Turtipar 3, Ballia, Bareilly, Dabri, Mukhlispur and Palliakalan 2, each and Bani, Bahraich, Fatehgarh, Ghaziapur, Narora and Regoli 1 each and Uttaranchal: Banbasa 10, Pantnagar 5, and Mukteshwar 3.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures fell appreciably in Jammu and Kashmir and west Rajasthan, fell in Punjab and east Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were largely below normal in Haryana and Punjab, markedly below normal in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh and appreciably below normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 37.8°C recorded at Jaisalmer (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of June 20: Rain or thundershowers will occur at many places in Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, at a few places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and east Rajasthan and at isolated places in the rest of the region.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal during the next 48 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of June 20: Generally cloudy sky with possibility of one or two showers or thundershowers. Maximum temperature will be around 36°C.

Farmers weather bulletin for Delhi: Forecast valid until the morning of June 20: Light to moderate rain is likely at a few places.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.

Earthquake report: An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale occurred at 9.32 pm (IST) on June 17, with its epicentre at latitude 23.7° N, longitude 70.1° E in the Rann of Kutch (Gujarat).Top
