Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Haryana and Uttaranchal, at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh. Weather was mainly dry in Rajasthan. The chief amounts of rainfall in cms are: Haryana: Naraingarh, Pehowa, Tohana and Thanesar — 2 each, and Ambala, Kaithal, Narwana and Panipat — 1 each; Himachal Pradesh: Paonta Sahib 2 and Dharampur — 1; Jammu and Kashmir: Quazigund — 4; Punjab: Nawanshahr and Samrala — 2 each, and Adampur, Ludhiana, Moga and Patiala — 1 each; Uttar Pradesh: Allahabad — 1; and Uttaranchal: Dehra Dun — 2.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures rose appreciably in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh, rose in Jammu and Kashmir, east Rajasthan, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and changed little in west Rajasthan.

Departures: They were markedly below normal in Haryana and Punjab, appreciably below normal in west Rajasthan, west Uttar pradesh and Uttaranchal, below normal in Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh and normal in Jammu and Kashmir. The highest temperature in the region was 40.4°C recorded at Nal AP (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of June 9: Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttaranchal and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir, north Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in south Rajasthan. Thundersqualls are likely at isolated places in Haryana, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of June 9: Partly cloudy sky with thundery development and rain in some areas. Maximum temperature will be around 34°C.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.
