Dr Nayyar takes over

Dr Vijay Kumar Nayyar took over as the Head of the Department of Soils, Punjab agricultural University, here yesterday. He was formerly working as Senior Soil Chemist and was in charge of the ICAR Micronutrient Scheme since January, 1988. The outgoing Head of the Department, Dr B.R. Arora, retired yesterday after putting about 38 years of service.

Bhanot honoured

Krishan Bhanot, a well-known Punjabi poet, was honoured by the Punjabi Sahit and Sabhyachar Manch (International) at a meeting held at Punjabi Bhavan yesterday. The meeting was presided over by Prof N. S. Tasneem, Sukhminder Rampuri, Harbhajan Gill, Kulwant Jagraon and Janmeja Johal.
