Natural gas struck at new ONGC well
Rajahmundry, May 29
Natural gas was struck in a new well at Pasarlapudi structure in the Krishna-Godavary (K-G) basin of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in east Godavary district of Andhra Pradesh, on Monday. ONGC sources said on Tuesday that the gas bearing well drilled up to 2400 metres depth and containing eight zones (layers/objects), indicated presence of natural gas. The test results of the data of the well’s third zone was estimated to yield 80,000 cubic metres of gas per day. UNI

Hearing in blasts case postponed
Coimbatore, May 29
Special Judge A. Selvam postponed to June 6 the hearing of the case relating to the 1998 Coimbatore serial blasts, which claimed 60 lives, leaving more than 250 injured. When the case came up for hearing, 164 accused of a total 167, including People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Abdul Nazar Madhani, were produced before the court in batches amid tight security.
