Musharraf warned

Major Pakistani political parties, including the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the Awami National Party (ANP) and the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), and many religious parties have welcomed Pakistan’s positive response to the invitation from the BJP government but warned General Musharraf that he should be cautious on Kashmir issue. Police officer killed
Agartala, May 26
A senior police officer and two dreaded guerrillas were killed and three security personnel injured in separate encounters between security forces and militants in West Tripura today. The police said here that acting on a tip-off, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and state police personnel launched a massive combing operation at Mohan Kobra Para, Gagra Chara and in the adjoining areas early today. In the ensuing battle, subdivisional police officer Manoranjan Debbarma, died even as two dreaded extremists were killed on the spot. Two AK 56 rifles along with a large quantity of ammunition was seized from the site. UNI

Women clerk
Palampur, May 26
Asking a member of the personal staff of a minister to stand in queue to pay the electricity bill has cost a woman clerk dear. Ms Krishna Devi, a clerk in the HPSEB, Palampur, has been transferred to Mandi with immediate effect. The matter was raised at a meeting of the HPSEB Employees Association. The union in a resolution has demanded withdrawal of the transfer order. OC
