Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, at a few places in Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and at isolated places in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in centimetres are: Haryana: New Delhi (Safdarjung) 4, Rohtak and Sirsa 3 each, Kalka and Rewari 2 each and Bhiwani, Chandigarh, Chirag Delhi, Hisar and Kaithal 1 each, Himachal Pradesh: Sundernagar 2 and Dhundhi, Kangra and Shimla 1 each, Jammu and Kashmir: Batote 6, Jammu 3, Quazigund 2 and Srinagar 1, Punjab: Adampur 1 and Rajasthan: Bikaner 4, Sriganganagar 2 and Churu, Jaipur, Kota A.P., Nal and Pilani 1 each.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures rose appreciably in Haryana and Punjab, rose in Himachal Pradesh, west Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, fell in east Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were largely below normal in east Rajasthan, markedly below normal in west Uttar Pradesh, appreciably below normal in Haryana, Punjab, west Rajasthan, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, above normal in Jammu and Kashmir and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 39.7C recorded at Barmer (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of May 22: Rain or thundershowers will occur at many places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, at a few places in north Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at isolated places in south Rajasthan. Isolated thundersqualls are likely in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.

Farmers weather bulletin for Delhi: Forecast valid until the morning of May 22: Light rain will occur at a few places.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: Decrease in rainfall.
