Curfew continues in Naseerabad
Jaipur, April 6
The Army was pulled out with just one company of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) being deployed even as the indefinite curfew continued for the second day today at the trouble-torn Naseerabad township in Ajmer district of Rajasthan. Rajasthan Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) H.N. Meena here maintained that the situation was ‘’absolutely’’ under ‘’control’’ at the township. UNI

50 down with food poisoning
Mumbai, April 6
Over 50 persons suffered from suspected food poisoning after they consumed “sharbat” distributed during a procession on the occasion of Muharram at Ghatkopar in north-east Mumbai on Thursday. Several people complained of uneasiness after drinking the “sharbat” distributed outside Hussain Masjid. In a separate incident, 14 persons were injured after the balcony of a chawl collapsed at Ghatkopar. PTI

Village tribal chief beheaded
Hyderabad, April 6
In a gruesome incident, a village tribal chief was beheaded by fellow tribals branding him as a “sorcerer” at Javvarigudem village in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh. The police said Madakam Muttaiah (55) was brutally murdered by three tribals of the village on Monday last. Three tribals were picked up on Thursday in connection with the incident, Bhadrachalam DGP, G. Sampathkumar Reddy said. PTI

Four fake CBI officers held
New Delhi, April 6
Four men who allegedly posed as CBI officers and tried to extort money from a doctor in Southwest Delhi have been arrested, the police said on Thursday The accused — Rajiv Kumar Upadhyaya, Parminder Singh, Kishan Kumar and Sumit Kumar — all residents of New Roshanpura under Nazafgarh police station, were nabbed on a complaint lodged by Dr Shiv Kumar Sharma of the same locality, they said. The accused were carrying identity cards of the Crime Free India Society. PTI
