Freedom fighter Bhangre dead
Nasik, March 22
Senior freedom fighter Ramchandra Bapuji, alias Nanasaheb Bhangre died at Shinde village, near here, on Thursday due to old age. He was 76. He is survived by a son, his family sources said on Friday. Born in 1925 at Dhinde village, he took active part in the Quit India movement in 1942, and was jailed for six months. PTI

Girl flogged to death by father
Mumbai, March 22
A minor girl was allegedly flogged to death by her father after he discovered her love affair at Baiganwadi in central Mumbai on Thursday. The accused bound the feet and hands of his 13-year-old daughter with a thick rope and flogged her with a wooden club after he found that she was in love with a close acquaintance. The girl was rushed to Shatabdi hospital, where she was declared dead. PTI

6 children die of measels
Videsha (MP), March 22
Six children have died of measles in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh, officials said on Friday. The children of labourers, who had migrated from Shahdol to Purbai village in search of work, had been admitted to a hospital in Ganjbasoda. Some other children have also been hospitalised. UNI
