6 KILLED IN CLASHES
Kanpur, March 16
Six persons, including a district Magistrate, were killed when a mob, protesting against the alleged burning of Quran, clashed with the police, hurling crude bombs and exchanging fire here today. The clash broke out when the police prevented the protesters from assembling at Parade Choraha immediately after the Friday prayers. PTI

CRAFT GROUNDED
Raipur, March 16
An Alliance aircraft bound for New Delhi was today grounded at the Mana Airport here following a bird-hit triggered engine trouble, sources said. No injury was reported. Passengers were asked to disembark after the snag was discovered and those bound for Nagpur, where the plane was scheduled to make a halt, were sent there by road. UNI

CURFEW IN KANPUR
Kanpur, March 16
Curfew was imposed in five police station areas here today after six persons, including an Additional District Magistrate, were killed in a clash between the police and a mob protesting against the alleged burning of the Quran in three states recently. Mr G.P. Sharma, SSP, confirmed the death of ADM (Finance) C.P. Pathak and three others and said 20 persons were injured in the clash. Areas under curfew are Bekanganj, Moolganj, Anwarganj, Babupurva and Chamanganj.Meanwhile, Kanpur University has postponed its exams scheduled for tomorrow. UNI
