Sainiks ransack gift shops, 4 held
NEW DELHI, Feb 14
The Delhi police arrested four Shiv Sena activists who reportedly stormed into gift shops tearing up Valentine Day cards and ransacked restaurants in Karol Bagh and Darya Ganj areas of Central Delhi to stop the celebrations by the love-struck in the Capital. The Vice Presidents of the Shiv Sena, Arjun Jain and Rohit Manchanda are among the arrested Sena activists. The Sainiks were arrested after they ransacked the Archies Gallery at Padam Singh Road in Karol Bagh. The slogan-shouting Shiv Sena activists entered the gallery and started tearing up the Valentine day cards on display there. The Sainiks also attacked an Archies gift shop in Darya Ganj and rained soda bottles at another outlet in Kamla Nagar area near Delhi University. Three other such galleries were forced to down their shutters in Laxami Nagar, Shakarpur, and Vivek Vihar area of East Delhi.

No jail for STs for bigamy: SC

Feb 14 Bigamy is an offence under Section 494 of the IPC, punishable with seven years rigorous imprisonment and fine. But this penal provision will not apply, if the offender is a member of a Scheduled Tribe. This significant judgement of the Supreme Court, which has the potential of being misused, was delivered today by a Division Bench comprising Mr Justice K.T. Thomas and Mr Justice R.P. Sethi while dismissing an appeal against a verdict of the Delhi High Court.

Hooch kills five
PURI (Orissa),
Feb 14 Five persons, including two women, died at Puri today after consuming
illicit liquor. Three persons died at their homes in the upper slums of Bali on the outskirts of the town, and others at the district Sadar hospital today afternoon. Six more persons were hospitalised in a critical condition.
