Shiv Sainiks burn V-Day banners
NEW DELHI, Feb 13 — Shiv Sena activists today went around the capital burning Valentine’s Day banners and cards at some places and threatening restaurant owners to refrain from celebrations tomorrow. About 25 slogan-shouting activists pulled down banners put up at the gates of Appu Ghar in Central Delhi and burnt them. The Sena activists, led by Delhi Shiv Sena president Jai Bhagwan Goel, later met the officials of the amusement park and elicited an assurance that no special programme would be organised tomorrow. In Maurice Nagar in North Delhi, another team of Sena activists stormed an Archie’s Gallery and burnt Valentine’s Day cards and forced the owners to withdraw all such cards from display. Archie’s outlets in Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar and Sarswati Vihar were also forced to pack up their cards. 

PM’s visit: security beefed up
COIMBATORE, Feb 13 — Security has been tightened in and around the city, in the wake of the third anniversary of serial blasts tomorrow and also for the scheduled visit of the Prime Minister Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee, on February 16, the police said. A strong force, drawn from the Rapid Action Force, Swift Action Force, armed reserve, CRPF, Tamil Nadu Special Police, besides local police, formed part of the security cover, formed to meet any eventualities, it said. — PTI

Tremors in Kottayam
KOTTAYAM, Feb 13 — Mild tremors were experienced today in parts of Ponkunnam, Paika, Chirakkadavu and the Urulikkunnam areas of Kottayam district, official sources here said. The tremors occurred between 2.30 am and 8.30 a.m. — PTI
