Akhwinder best athlete

LUDHIANA, Feb 10 — Akhwinder was adjudged the best athlete of the annual athletics meet of the Ramgarhia College for Women here today. Akhwinder won a gold medal each in the 200 m, 800 m, 400 m and 100 m events of the meet.

The results are as follows: shot put — Sonu 1, Satinder 2, Gurpreet 3; long jump: Sonu 1, Satinder 2, Reetu 3; discus throw: Satinder 1, Sushma 2, Nisha 3.

Javelin throw: Sonu 1, Gurpreet 2, Anju 3; 100 m race: Akhwinder Kaur 1, Amandeep Kaur 2, Babita 3; 200 m race: Akhwinder 1, Sonu 2, Amandeep 3; 800 m race — Akhwinder 1, Anju Bala 2, Sonu 3.

Sack race: Anju Bala 1, Jaspreet 2, Shimla Passi 3; spoon-and-potato race — Harjeet 1, Harpreet 2, Lakshmi 3; chatti race — Baljeet 1, Lakshmi 2, Gurpreet 3; 400 m — Akhwinder 1, Anju 2, Amandeep 3.

Unity XI enter final

LUDHIANA, Feb 10 — The Unity XI has entered the final of the 5th Rajeev Gandhi Memorial Cricket Tournament, by defeating Parath XI by a margin of 24 runs here on Saturday. Unity XI will play the final match with VCC XI, tomorrow morning at Daresi Ground.

Unity XI won the toss and elected to bat first. Unity XI scored 151 runs in 24 overs before all out. Parth XI could score 127 runs in 18.3 overs and lost all wickets.

On the winners side, Mannu and Ajit Pal played fine inning as Mannu scored 33 run in 26 ball with the help of three sixes and a boundary, while Ajit Pal struck 25 runs in just 15 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six. Parminder from the Unity Xi did fiery bowling and took three wickets.

On the losers side, Aseem, Munsih and Dinesh scored 23, 19 and 13 runs respectively. Ajay and Harbhjan Kala from Parath XI took three wickets each while Ashwani took two wickets. Back

 

Two more golds for Aaya

LUDHIANA, Feb 10 — Aaya Singh won two gold medals on the second day of the three-day 54th Annual Athletics Meet of Arya College for Boys here. He has now won five gold medals in the meet. He won a gold medal each in the 100 m race and long jump events.

Gurpreet Singh won a gold medal each in the 800 m and discus throw events.

The results are as follows: 100 m — Aaya Singh 1, Harcharanjeet Singh 2, Harjinder Singh 3; 1500 m — Baljeet Singh 1, Gurpreet Singh 2, Jasvinder Singh 3; discus throw: Gurpreet Singh 1, Satnam Singh 2, Davinder Singh 3; three-legged race: Rachpal Singh and Jaswinder Singh 1, Satnam Singh and Gurpreet Singh 2, Dinesh Maggo and Sukhwinder Singh 3.

Long jump: Aaya Singh 1, Amrinder Pal Singh 2, Jagwinder Singh 3; hammer throw: Charanjit Singh 1, Davinder Singh 2; 800 m: Gurpreet Singh 1, Mukesh Masih 2, Raj Pal Singh 3.
