Athletics meet
The 43rd annual athletics meet of DAV College, Chandigarh, was inaugurated today by Ms Madhvi
Kataria, DPI Colleges, UT Administration. Principal R.C. Jeevan apprised the chief guest that college has won the Sir Shadi Lal shield for general efficiency in sports in the Panjab University for the 30th time without break. He told that college has produced 47 international sports stars such as Kapil Dev, Yograj Singh and Yuvraj Singh.
Earlier, the two-day meet began after a two-minute of silence was observed in the memory of earthquake victims. Hardeep Singh, won titles like Mr Chandigarh and Mr Junior India.

Umesh and Rajeev Bajaj entered semis of one singles category of the 6th Tribune TT Tournament on Tuesday.
Results: Open singles Umesh beat Sukhwinder 21-13, 21-15; Rajeev Bajaj beat Rajeev Sheokand 21-11, 21-16; and Vikas Ghai beat Parkash 21-10, 21-8.
Lucky doubles: Vikas
Ghai, Surinder Rawal beat Rajan Rikhi and Sunil Dutt, 23-21, 21-9.
Golf championship
Mrs Kuljeet Suri along with Mr J. S. Sidhu and Col
J.S. Panag won the fourth Pran Nath Memorial Golf Championship at the Chandigarh Golf
Club.
Sixtysix golfers participated in the mixed double championship wherein three golfers, two male golfers and one woman golfer, formed a group. The tournament was played under the Stableford rules wherein one point is given for bogie, two points for par and three points for a birdie. Both the winners and the runners-up collected 90 points but Mrs Suris team won on account of better points in the back nine holes.
There was a special prize for hitting the ball nearest in the pin on the third hole. Mrs Deepu Dhanoa and Girish Virk won the prizes in the womens and mens sections, respectively.
