5 woodcutters shot dead
GUWAHATI, Jan 30 (UNI) — In renewed violence, five woodcutters were shot dead and four others injured by suspected United Peoples Democratic Solidarity militants at Thangsa in Karbi Anglong district, official sources said here on Tuesday. About 15 woodcutters from the Kohora police station area of neighbouring Golaghat district had gone to Thangsa forests to cut bamboo when they were surrounded by militants on Monday. In the indiscriminate firing by militants, five woodcutters were killed and four others injured, sources added. 

Man kills wife,three kids
CHENNAI, Jan 30 (UNI) —  A 40-year-old man crushed to death his wife and three children by hitting them with a grinding stone at Karaikudi in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, suspecting his wife’s fidelity. The police said Rajagopal, a carpenter in Singapore, had come to visit his family after six months. He had killed his wife Thilakavathi (30) and children — two daughters aged 11 and 10 and a son aged five — while they were asleep.
