Architects for PGI project okayed

CHANDIGARH, Jan 25 — The PGI has finalised a list of architects, civil engineers and other allied service providers for the Advanced Eye Care Centre (AECC) at a meeting of the project committee of the PGI Engineering Department held at the institute yesterday.

This is to empanel the prequalification bids of architects. According to sources, about 20 contractors and six architects have been shortlisted. A detailed notice floating tender for the eye centre has also been okayed.

The 100-bed AECC is to come up near the new OPD and will have six operation theatres, special clinics and diagnostic laboratories. The drawing and final planning by the engineering department on the project, which will cost about Rs 20 crore, are complete.

Clearance of the project committee of the institute is mandatory for starting construction on any project which costs more than Rs 5 crore.

Sarangpur land being acquired for special project

CHANDIGARH, Jan 25 — The Chandigarh Administration is acquiring 104 acres of "for development of a complex for important projects’’ Sarangpur village located on the western boundary of the Union Territory.

The complex has been earmarked for important hospitals, schools, colleges and centres of excellence.

Another project being set up in the periphery is an information technology (IT) park at Kishengarh village. A notification to acquire the land in Sarangpur has been issued under the provisions of Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Government of India, the Administrator has directed persons interested in filing objections, under Section 5-A of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, to do so till February 1 before the Land Acquisition Collector, Union Territory, Chandigarh.

Annuity as monthly allowance

CHANDIGARH, Jan 25 — The Chandigarh Administration has converted the annuity being paid to gallantry awardees and holders of other decorations into monthly allowance. It has also modified the provisions in respect to those who have been decorated with the PVSM, AVSM and VSM.

According to a statement issued here, the words ‘‘1971 awardees only’’ appearing in the notification against the decorations of PVSM, AVSM and VSM have been deleted.

The revision will be effected from January 4, 2000.

The amount of monthly allowance in lieu of annuity is — Param Vir Chakra, Rs 350; Ashok Chakra, Rs 325; Maha Vir Chakra, Rs 275; Kirti Chakra, Rs 250; Vir Chakra, Rs 200; Shaurya Chakra, Rs 175; Sena,Vayu Sena and Nao Sena Medal, Rs 100; Sarvotam Yudh,Uttam Yudh and Yudh Seva Medal, Rs 100; Mention-in-despatches, Rs 100; PVsm, Rs 200; AVSM, Rs 175 and VSM, Rs 150.
