Plane engine shut off, lands safely
HONG KONG, Jan 15 (AFP) — A Cathay Pacific Boeing 747 with 245 passengers onboard landed safely here after shutting down one of its engines during a flight from Taipei, an airline spokeswoman said today. The captain decided to shut down one of the four engines after realising that it was overheating, 10 minutes after leaving Taipei for Hong Kong yesterday, spokeswoman Lisa Wang said. “In the process, no smoke was detected,” she said.

Hurriyat itinerary
ISLAMABAD, Jan 15 (PTI) — Amid indications that the Hurriyat Conference delegation was likely to delay the Pakistan visit by a week, senior Pakistani officials said they were unaware about the delegation’s itinerary. “We just do not have any word officially conveyed to us till this moment... however, we have heard that the Hurriyat Conference delegation is most probably not reaching here today,” The News reported.

7 killed in Bihar
PATNA, Jan 15 (UNI) — At least seven persons, including a BJP leader, were mowed down by unidentified criminals near a cinema hall at Rosera in Bihar’s Samastipur district today. The Police said here that the miscreants pumped bullets indiscriminately, killing seven persons on the spot. A Samastipur report said the deceased included six Lok Jansakati workers. None had been arrested so far in this connection.
