From Our Correspondent

LUDHIANA, Jan 15 — The All-India Federation of Agricultural University of Teachers Association (AIFAUTA) has lodged a protest with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research against the deferment of the date of implementation of the new CAS for the teachers of the state agricultural universities.

It may be recalled that the ICAR in a letter addressed to the state governments on July 19, 2000, stated that the CAS would be implemented in all agricultural universities with effect from January 1, 1996. However, subsequently the ICAR informed the state governments on December 6, 2000, that the CAS would be implemented from July 27, 1998.

In a letter addressed to the Director-General of the ICAR, Dr H.S. Brar, convener of the AIFAUTA, and president of the PAUTA, has lamented the deferment of the date of implementation of the CAS.

The Director-General of the ICAR has appointed Dr Joginder Singh, Senior Entomologist (Cotton), Department of Entomology, PAU, as member of the Research Advisory Committee of the Central Institute for Cotton Research, Nagpur. Dr Joginder Singh has an experience of more than 30 years on study of cotton pests. His contributions have been well acknowledged both at national and international level.
