Illicit relations lead man to commit double murder
LUDHIANA, Jan 10— In a shocking case, a middle-aged man, driven by his alleged illicit relations with his wife’s sister, not only murdered his father-in-law and brother-in-law, but also conspired to show the murders as cases of accident.

Avtar cremated; fresh FIR lodged
Police panel for speedy disposal of case
LUDHIANA, Jan 10 — The police today registered a fresh FIR in the infamous shootout incident in Maya Nagar on Sunday night leading to the death of a 20-year-old youth, Avtar Singh. The youth was cremated in the afternoon amidst heart-rending scenes.

LUDHIANA, Jan 10 — Two incidents of theft were reported in the city during the past 24 hours. In one incident, a theft took place at Nagesh Exclusive Hosiery at Jalandhar bypass road, while in the second incident cash and jewellery worth Rs 75,000 were reported to be stolen from a house in the Haibowal area.

SAHNEWAL, Jan 10 — A woman, allegedly subjected to continuous physical and mental torture by her in-laws for want of dowry, committed suicide at Nichi Mangali village, on Monday morning.

Case of fraud registered against three
DORAHA, Jan 10 — Yet another case of duping people for a visa has came to light. According to an FIR registered at Payal police station yesterday, under Sections 406, 420, 120-B of IPC, Sadhu Singh of Bhadewal village and Gurbax Singh of Ajnaud village, were lured by Parminder Singh, Navtej Singh and their father Sikander Singh of Majara village into a financial agreement for a visa to some foreign land.

LUDHIANA, Jan 10 — Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL), a company promoted by financial institutions such as IDBI, UTI, and LIC in 1988, has started online trading in the city in partnership with State Bank of Patiala (SBP).The company had already been offering Internet trading to about 20,000 clients in Punjab alone. The company had been handling annual business of about one lakh crore.
