NEW DELHI, Jan 7 — Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are prevailing in Uttar Pradesh. Cold wave conditions are also prevailing in parts of Punjab. They are likely to continue during next two days and extend to Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Uttaranchal.

NEW DELHI, Jan 7 — Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are prevailing in Uttar Pradesh. Cold wave conditions are also prevailing in parts of Punjab. They are likely to continue during next two days and extend to Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Uttaranchal.

Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell markedly in west Uttar Pradesh, fell in Haryana, Punjab, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, rose in east Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were below normal in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, west Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 1.2°C recorded at Sirsa (Haryana) and Sarawa (Uttar Pradesh.

Forecast valid until the morning of 9th: Rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be dry in the rest of the region.

Low temperature warning: Ground frost is likely at a few places in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh during the next two nights.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of 9th: Mainly clear sky. Fog during night and morning. Cold wave conditions are likely to set in with minimum temperature around 4°C.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.
