Amritsar coldest in region

CHANDIGARH, Dec 10 (UNI) — The western disturbances over Jammu and Kashmir today led to widespread cloudiness in the northwest plains, while temperatures dipped by 1-3°C, with Amritsar recording 4.1°C, the lowest in the region.

The night temperatures fell in Punjab and Haryana and changed a little in Himachal Pradesh. These were below normal in the plains and normal in Himachal Pradesh.

The temperature fell 3°C below normal in Patiala, which recorded 4.8°C.

In Haryana, the temperature was 2°C below normal in Ambala, with 5.6°C as the minimum on the scale. A minimum temperature of 5.9°C was recorded at Rohtak.

The city and its surrounding areas in Punjab and Haryana were enveloped by clouds, with the minimum temperature dipping 2°C below normal at 6.2 °C.

The national Capital also witnessed cloudiness, with minimum temperature falling 1°C below normal to record 7.6°C at the Safdarjung observatory.

According to the weather forecast here, light to moderate rain or snow is likely to occur at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Punjab, while weather would be mainly dry in Haryana.
