M.N. Sharma is Chief Engineer

Ludhiana, Dec 6 — The Punjab Government has promoted Mr M. N. Sharma, Superintending Engineer (Civil) in the Municipal Corporation, here as Chief Engineer (Civil) against a new created post.

An engineering graduate from the Thapar Institute of Engineering, Patiala, and a postgraduate from Guru Nanak Engineering College, Ludhiana, Mr Sharma started his career as SDO in the then Municipal Committee at Amritsar. He was promoted as Executive Engineer in 1978 and posted at Ludhiana. Thereafter he became Superintending Engineer, in which capacity, he served in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala and Amritsar.

An avid golfer and a member of the Ranjitgarh Golf Club at PPA, Phillaur, he is the elected honorary secretary of the Institution of Engineers, Ludhiana chapter, for 2000-2001. Mr Sharma is also a fellow of the Institute of Engineers (India).

Mr Lachman Das, who was holding the concurrent charge of the Superintending Engineer (Civil) in the MC here on a temporary basis, has been promoted as SE, under the orders of Mr N. K. Arora, Principal Secretary, Department of Local Government, Punjab. His posting orders will be issued in due course.
