Marandi wins trust vote
RANCHI, Nov 23 (PTI) — The nine-day old Babulal Marandi government today won the vote of confidence in the Jharkhand Assembly by 10 votes. Fortyfour votes were cast in favour of Mr Marandi and 34 against.

Reservation Bill
BANGALORE, Nov 23 (PTI) — The Karnataka Legislative Assembly today passed the Karnataka Reservation of Appointment of Posts (in the Civil Services of the state) for Rural Candidates Bill, 2000, incorporating an amendment moved by the government.

AVM Mehta dead
NEW DELHI, Nov 23 (UNI) — Air Vice Marshal (Retd) C.L. Mehta died last night after a prolonged illness. He was 82. He is survived by his wife. Air Marshal Mehta was a pioneer of administration in Air Force and the Indian Olympic Association. He had also served as the President of the Indian Weightlifting Federation. 

16 drowned
CALCUTTA, Nov 23 (PTI) — Sixteen persons were drowned when a country boat capsized in the Sui river in north Dinaipur district of West Bangal today, police sources said. They said 10 persons were rescued by local villagers and admitted to Chanchol Hospital, where five were listed critical.
