TN ex-minister sentenced
CHENNAI, Nov 15 (UNI) — Former Tamil Nadu minister A.M. Paramasivam and his wife Nallamal were today convicted and sentenced to undergo two years and one year rigorous imprisonment, respectively, by a Special Judge in the Rs 38.72 lakh disproportionate wealth case. Special Judge P. Anbazhagan, who delivered the verdict, held that the prosecution had proved the case beyond doubt. He also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Mr Paramasivam and Rs 5000 on Mrs Nallamal.

26 judicial officers ‘retired’
JAIPUR, Nov 15 (UNI) — The Rajasthan High Court has “compulsorily retired” as many as 26 judicial officers, including District Judges (DJs) and Chief Judicial Magistrates (CJMs), on finding them (unfit” to continue in service after “scrutiny” of their entire service records. A decision to this effect was taken at the two-day full court meeting held here last week, according to high court sources here today. Altogether 17 officers belonging to the Rajasthan Higher Judicial Service, and functioning as DJs and Additional DJs at various places, were removed from service under the provisions of Rule 244 (2) of the Rajasthan Service Rules (Old) and 53 (1) of the Rajasthan Civil Services Pension Rules — 1996.

7 killed in Tripura
AGARTALA, Nov 15 (UNI) — Tension gripped Kanchanpur after at least seven persons were killed and several injured in ethnic and militancy-related violence in north Tripura today. The police said outlawed United Bengali Liberation Front rebels hurled bombs at a jeep killing the driver and two others at Dasda.
