Nada Sahib case
adjourned till Jan 22 PANCHKULA, Nov 14 — The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mr Ved Pal Gupta, adjourned the case of Nada Sahib for January 22 after an application was moved by the SGPC for impleading them as a party in the case. Seeking adjournment, the SGPC stated that in the case where it was alleged that the “property of Gurdwara Nada Sahib was being misappropriated by the respondents Sarup Singh and others in collaboration with some influential persons’’. In the application, it was added that being a custodian of the gurdwara and in its interest, the adjournment was sought since election to the office-bearers of the SGPC was slated for November 30. It may be recalled that a clash between the ``task force’’ of the SGPC and villagers of Nada had taken place outside the gurdwara on October 1 over encroachment. In the clash, a number of shops were demolished and the district administration stepped in to resolve the matter. After arriving at a compromise whereby the gurdwara management was required to pay compensation to villagers, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two parties. This MoU was subsequently challenged in the court. |
