Plane hijacker surrenders
MOSCOW, Nov 12 (PTI) — A Russian airliner with 58 persons, including Finance Minister of Russia’s Daghestan province on board, was hijacked today by a Daghestani national who forced the plane to land in Israel before surrendering to the Israeli forces after a 12-hour drama. The Moscow-bound Tupolev TU-154 plane was hijacked by the gun-wielding man soon after it took off from Makhachkala, Capital of Daghestan bordering Chechnya, officials said here. The hijack drama ended at the Uvda airbase in Israel’s Negev desert with the safe release of all 48 passengers and 10 crew members.
