Nov 7 — Nearly 140 science models were on display at a district-level inter-school contest organised at RS Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, here today.
The winners at the tehsil-level contests had displayed a variety of working and non-working models on any one of the five themes. These included information technology, transport and communication, industry, energy and food, health and nutrition.
For secondary classes, under the theme ‘information technology’, Vikas Kakkar of RS Model Senior Secondary School bagged the first prize. The second prize was shared by Taranjit and Amanjot from GGN Public School and Jasmeet and Sarabjit from Government High School, Jamalpur.
For the theme ‘industry’, Deepak Sharma and Deepak Mahajan of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School bagged the first prize. The second prize was shared by Gurtej and Harpreet from Government High School, Purren, and Gurpreet and Ranbir from of Government High School, Bija.
For the theme ‘transport and communication’, Jugal Kishore and Sunny of R.K. Senior Secondary School, Jagraon, bagged the first prize. The second prize was shared by Ravi and Nishant of RS Model Senior Secondary School and Simaranpreet and Bhagwant of Government Girls High School, Dakha.
The students of Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, bagged the first prize in inter-school final quiz held yesterday. Seven teams, which were first in the tehsil-level contests participated. There were seven rounds, two each of physics, chemistry and biology. The seventh round was based on environmental
studies. The students of Government High School, Pakhowal, were declared second and the third prize went to Government High School, Purren.
In chart-making contest, students were told to make charts on any one of the six topics, which included digestive system, food web, nuclear reactor, blast furnace, compound microscope and diesel engine.
The judges were Ms Archana Joshi of Government High School, Mansuran, Mr Tejwant Singh of Government Girls Senior Secondary School and Mr Harchand of Ramgarhia School.
