LUDHIANA, Oct 22 — The Principal of the PAU campus school, Mr Chander Hans Puri, has been transferred. According to sources, the transfer is the fallout of a scuffle between two students of the school.

Road digging in Chaura Bazar evokes protests

FATEHGARH SAHIB, Oct 22 — Sandeep Kumar, a student of Class XI of Baba Dayalpuri Senior Secondary School, Sirhind township, who was allegedly kidnapped on October 19, was recovered in an unconscious condition on Friday evening.

10 bank branches earmarked for depositing cess
LUDHIANA, Oct 22 — In order to facilitate dealers to deposit the Social Security Cess levied by the Punjab government under the Punjab Social Security Act from April 11, 2000, at the rate of 10 per cent on sales tax or purchase tax, ten branches of different banks have been earmarked in the Ludhiana district, where accounts of Social Security and Development of Women and Child Department, Punjab, have been opened, in which the Security Cess can be deposited.

PNB gets award
LUDHIANA, Oct 22 — The Governor of Punjab, Lieut-Gen J.F.R. Jacob, presented 20th Century Best Services Award to Mr Keshav Aggarwal, Deputy General Manager, PNB, Punjab zone, and Mr K.I. Singh, Senior Regional Manager, PNB, Ludhiana region, at a function held on Saturday in connection with the celebration of Disability — 2000 Millennium and International (World) White Cane Day.

Bank registers 25.57 net profit
LUDHIANA, Oct 22 — IndusInd Bank has registered a 25.57 per cent increase in net profit for the half year which ended on September 30, as compared to the corresponding period of the last year. Bank’s thrust on retail segment has brought in a number of initiatives providing for all customer needs under one roof.
