2 BSF jawans die as IED explodes
JAMMU, Oct 21 — Two BSF jawans were killed and three others were wounded when an improvised explosive device planted in a bag of eatables on the back of a mule, exploded in Lepri village in Arnas belt of Udhampur district today.

Minister’s kin found murdered
LUDHIANA, Oct 21 — Jhangi Lal, a brother-in-law of Mr Rikhi Ram Kondal, Minister for Cooperatives in the Himachal Pradesh Government, was found murdered in mysterious circumstances at his residence in Ishar Nagar here last night.

Goa Govt reduced to minority
BJP ministers resign

PANAJI, Oct 21 — In a swift political development, the eleven-month-old coalition government of Chief Minister Francisco Sardinha in Goa today plunged into a major political crisis with three BJP ministers resigning from the Cabinet and two splinter groups of the Congress deciding to merge with the BJP so that it could form its own government in this tiny state.

Pak army moves divisions towards border
ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 — Pakistan has moved nine army divisions equipped with ammunition towards the international border with India from Marala to Rann of Kutch to “conduct massive exercises”, English daily, The News, reported today.

'84 riot victim ‘assaulted’ for filing affidavit
NEW DELHI, Oct 21 — A victim of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, who had submitted an affidavit before the Justice G.T. Nanawati Commission probing the incidents of violence, today filed a complaint with the police alleging that he was assaulted by some unidentified people here yesterday after the news about his affidavit appeared in a local daily.

JALANDHAR, Oct 21 — Nishan Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector, who has been booked by the CBI as co-conspirator in the Harpreet case, has finally been detained, if indications from the Punjab Armed Police headquarters here are to be believed.
