A special festival
treat WITH
festival celebrations in full swing, Mumbaikars are being constantly
treated to one happening event after another. Hardly had the euphoria
of dancing the dandiya with cine celebs Twinkle Khanna, Sanjay
Dutt and Dipti Bhatnagar ebbed, than Planet M (at Shoppers Stop mega
mall) lit their own filmi fireworks... leaving visitors with their
eyes wide and mouths agape! Imagine, having Preity Zinta within dancing distance! Oh, this vivacious winner really went all out to thrill the thousands of her fans gathered there — talking, posing for photos dancing away to kingdom come... and, on demand, even singing a song ( Soldier, Soldier) from here very first Tips films’ box office hit Soldier! All the two plus hours that she was there, everybody had forgotten what they’d come to shop for, I daresay! The next day, Planet
M reverberated with (mostly female) screams and many a swoon. For, who
do you think was on stage? Bicep boy Hrithik Roshan, that’s who! He
did some amazing jigs from Kaho Naa Pyar Hai and a couple of
his new, forthcoming films... adding incredible jugglery effects with
his hands while his feet continued to tap-a-tap-tap without missing a
single step or beat. And when he broke into a sudden, spontaneous
version of the song Bumbro (from Mission Kashmir), the
crowd simply went wild and danced with him — on stage, on the floor
— and even on their tables! |

Liar! Liar! Mr Smug. Suman Shekhar. Even he couldn’t have ever dreamed that the fall from the big screen would make such an ‘idiot box’ celebrity out of him, I swear. So call him Shekhar Suman or Suman Shekhar (his original name)... it hardly makes difference. Fact is that the man has been moving and shaking so much that he’s turned into a hypocrite. Like, just recently he was in print, criticising and deriding Amitabh Bachchan and his KBC show... spouting venom against "the undesirable, unhealthy spirit of gambling KBC has let loose — even in schoolkids". And yet, now he’s ready with his new show — Jab Khelo Sab khelo — with a prize money lure of over 12 million! Releases galore Good Lord! As if the number of big films released pre-Dasehra wasn’t mind boggling enough Aaghaaz (Sunil Shetty, Namrata Shirodkar, Sushmita Sen); Astitva (Tabu, Namrata Shirodkar, Sachin Khedekar); Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar ( Manoj Bajpai, Tabu); Shikari (Govinda, Karisma Kapoor, Tabu)... the line-up for Divali and Ramzan is even more glitzy. As a matter of fact, industry wags say that they’re into a "Tabu mini filmfest"! Yeah, this gal is sure hogging the shows, right? A good number of new movies are awaiting release while some have been released like Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai (Govinda, Sonali Bendre); Mission Kashmir (Sanjay Dutt, Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Jackie Shroff); Champion (Sunny Deol, Manisha Koirala) and Yash Chopra’s Mohabbatein (Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Anupam Kher, Shamita Sen and Aditya Chopra’s younger brother — Uday Chopra — amongst other). Oh, boy! Surely a filmfeast for cine gluttons! Fire & Ice Bollywood’s party animals are thrilled with the (re) opening of their fave disco — Fire & Ice. This haunt was forever full of film personalities before it had to close down (temporarily) for some vague reason. But now the joint is swinging again... and how! Spotted Preity Zinta-Marc Robinson, Sanjay Dutt-Rhea, Sunil Shetty-Mana, Anil Ambani-Tina, Ria Sen-John Abraham, Bipasha Basu-Dino Morrea... even Shah Rukh-Gauri shaking a leg the other evening. But the best was when Hrithik Roshan sauntered in with fiance Suzanne Khan — believe me, the place just went into an overdrive and it was ‘fire & ice’ all the way after that. Literally! Tailpiece Happened to bump into Pooja Batra and she was looking real snappy. Any special reason? "Yes," she gushed, "I’ve finally found Mr Right... thank God, he’s non- filmi!" |
