Suspended clerk threatens self-immolation
SAS NAGAR, Oct 13 — The issue of suspension of a senior clerk in the SAS Nagar Municipal Council, Mr Avtar Singh Kalsia, has taken a new turn with the suspended employee threatening to self-immolate in front of the house of the Administrator of the council, Mr Jaipal Singh, if the latter did not review his decision.

Train to Mumbai from Oct 22
CHANDIGARH, Oct 13 — The Northern Railways today notified that a direct train between Chandigarh and Mumbai — terminating at Bandra station of the western metropolis — will start operating from October 22.

CHANDIGARH, Oct 13 — The petition against the change of venue for holding the Indian Olympic Association’s annual general meeting from Pinjore to Pune was today disposed of by the Punjab and Haryana High Court after counsel for the respondents stated that the meeting would now be held at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru stadium on November 3.

Court orders removal of shackles
CHANDIGARH
, Oct 13 — The Punjab and Haryana High Court today ordered the removal of shackles of Harbhajan Singh, a resident of Gagarwal village in Khamano tehsil of Fatehgarh district in Punjab. He was allegedly in illegal custody of Kheri Naur Singh police station and escaped from there with his left leg shackled.
