Pak expels Indian official
ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (Reuters) — Pakistan ordered the expulsion of an Indian High Commission (embassy) official today, the third day of a diplomatic row between the two arch-rivals. A Foreign Ministry statement said the official had been asked to leave Pakistan by September 2. It said Pakistan had decided to ask for the recall of P.C. Dey, an Indian High Commission official in Islamabad, because he was involved in activities incompatible with his official status.

2 killed in clashes
MIDNAPORE, Aug 26 (UNI) — At least two Trinamool Congress supporters were killed and 47 injured in clashes with the CPM cadres in Keshpur town early this morning, the police said. At least 2000 armed CPM supporters attacked Bolghata, Shimla, Radhanagar and Akartala villages in retaliation to the killing of two CPM party workers yesterday in neighbouring Dotal village under Keshpur police station.

FREETOWN, Aug 26 (Reuters) — A group of British soldiers reported missing in Sierra Leone has been taken hostage by renegade Sierra Leonean soldiers, diplomatic and military sources said. “The British patrol team has been taken hostage by the West Side Boys,” a western diplomatic source said.
