Virasat Punjab-2000

LUDHIANA, Aug 26 — As part of Virasat Punjab-2000, the Ludhiana chapter of SPIC-MACAY will be organising 28 programmes in various educational institutions starting August 30.

The close of August will unveil the splendour of the rich Indian heritage, a heritage that has soothed many an exasperated soul. The mystical atmosphere that will be woven by the unique Indian classical music will leave no soul untouched. The event is expected to be a magnificent confluences of living legends and maestros performing live.

The performing artists include Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma (santoor), Niladri Kumar (sitarist), Habib Tanvir (folk theatre), Gurmeet Bawa (Punjabi folk), Wadali Brothers (vocalists), Warifuddin Dager and Uday Bhawalkar (dhrupad), Shivaji Bharti (mohini attam), Prerna Shrimati (kathak), Raja and Radha Reddy (Kuchipudy dance), Guru Singhajeet Singh and Charu Sija Mathur (Manipuri dance), Chau Purilia (folk dance, Bengal), Kiran Sehgal (Odissi dance) and Sadanam Bala Krishnan (kathakali).
