Medicos allege disparity in exam rules

LUDHIANA, Aug 20 — Resentment prevails among students of two private dental colleges here — BJS Dental College and CDC — over the alleged discrimination in certain examination rules.

Students and their parents alleged that there is disparity in the examination rules being followed by Baba Farid University of Medical Sciences with regard to these two colleges and other medical education institutions in the state.

They alleged that while in all other dental colleges in the state, students securing 50 per cent marks together in written and practical examinations were declared pass, in these two colleges, some examinees of had been failed as they did not secure 50 per cent marks separately in the written and practical exams. Many students whose combined score made up to 50 per cent had been declared failed, they said.

Students have also written to the Vice-Chancellor, seeking his clarification on this count.

Three elected unopposed to PAUTA

LUDHIANA, Aug 20 — For elections of the Punjab Agricultural University Teachers Association, three councillors of the Hari Singh Brar group now stand elected unopposed after the last date of sending and withdrawing nominations today. These three councillors are Mr B. D. Sharma for the north zone, Mr Anupam Singh for the south zone and Mr Jaskaran Singh from the College of Agricultural Engineering. For the five remaining positions, there are eight candidates. Of these, five are from the Hari Singh Brar group and three from the R. S. Brar group.

PGDCA entrance test on Sept 3

LUDHIANA, Aug 20 — The entrance examination for the Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) to be conducted by Panjab University will be held on September 3.

The Khalsa College for Women will be the centre. Roll numbers will be issued by the university on September 2. The last date for submitting forms is August 25.
