CHANDIGARH, Aug 18 — With the admission process on its last legs in various colleges of Chandigarh, the question of whether there should be centralised admissions to courses like BBA, BCA and B.Com, has again come to the fore.

600 admitted to B.Ed
CHANDIGARH, Aug 18 — As many as 600 students were given admissions today, the third day of the B.Ed admissions being held at the Dev Samaj College of Education for all 25 colleges affiliated to the three universities of Panjab University, Chandigarh, Punjabi University, Patiala, and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

Workshop on microgel electrophoresis

Aug 18 — The Department of Biotechnology, Panjab University, hosted a two-day workshop on microgel electrophoresis. This workshop was inaugurated by the DUI, Mr Ashok Sahni, yesterday, who emphasised the need of such workshops to have trained manpower to combat the problems facing mankind.

Non-bailable warrants in cheque bounce case
CHANDIGARH, Aug 18 — A city court today issued non-bailable warrants against a city resident who failed to pay back the amount of Rs 1.2 lakh to the complainant, Mr Gurpal Singh. The case under the Negotiable Instruments Act was registered against Amardeep Singh here last year.

Bail denied in document forgery case
CHANDIGARH, Aug 18 — The UT Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mr Sant Parkash, today rejected the bail application of Bhupinder Singh Puri in a case of cheating and forgery.

Judicial remand for taking bribe
CHANDIGARH, Aug 18 — The UT Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mr Sant Parkash, today sent a Burail resident to judicial remand. The accused, who was arrested here on August 18 by the UT Vigilance Department had been caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 500.
