Gujarat rains claim 5 lives
AHMEDEBAD, July 13 (PTI) — Five persons lost their lives as heavy rains lashed parts of central and north Gujarat paralysing normal life in the areas today. Four youths, including a girl, were swept away this morning in the flooded Sabarmati river and a canal in Dani Limda even as several low-lying areas of the city were under knee-deep water, the police said. A report from Surat said a 21-year-old woman was killed in a wall collapse early today at Kapadwada village in Navsari district.

Minister accused
LUCKNOW, July 13 (PTI) — Close on the heels of torture of Dalits by a Bihar minister, a member of the Ram Prakash Gupta Ministry in Uttar Pradesh allegedly confined a truck driver and a cleaner at his official residence for four days and tortured them, a charge denied by the minister.
