SHIMLA, Jan 26 — The 51st Republic Day was celebrated in Himachal Pradesh with great enthusiasm. Hundred of peoples turned out in their colourful dresses to witness the function, organised at the state and districts headquarters in the state.

Snowfall in Kufri, Narkanda
SHIMLA, Jan 26 — Kufri key slopes and tourist resort Narkanda experienced another round of snowfall since this morning.

R-Day celebrated in Himachal

SHIMLA, Jan 26 (PTI) — The 51st Republic Day was celebrated in Himachal Pradesh with great enthusiasm. Hundred of peoples turned out in their colourful dresses to witness the function, organised at the state and districts headquarters in the state.

At the state headquarters, Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri unfurled the National Flag at the historic Ridge Maidan and took the salute at a march past of contingents of the army, state police, Home Guards and NCC.

Achievements of various departments of state government were highlight of the function. Weapons captured by the Army during the "Operation Vijay" were also put on display.

All government buildings were illuminated and National Flag was unfurled from the roof tops.

Governor Vishnu Kant Sashtri hosted an "At Home" at the Raj Bhawan on this occasion.

State Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, Urban Development Minister Roop Dass Kashyap and high, civil and police officers were also present.

Snowfall in Kufri, Narkanda

SHIMLA, Jan 26 (PTI) — Kufri key slopes and tourist resort Narkanda experienced another round of snowfall since this morning.

The vehicular traffic on the Hindustan-Tibet road, Kufri and beyond, Narkanda and beyond and Wangtoo and beyond had been disrupted due to snowfall.

Public Works departments had pressed into services bulldozers to clear the roads.

Meanwhile, vehicular traffic for Rampur Bushahar is being diverted via Dhami and Kingal.

Reports of heavy intermittent snowfall had also been received from border district Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti and Bharmaur Valley of district Chamba. Over 15 cm of snowfall had been reported from tourist resort Manali.

Shimla and its adjoining areas have been receiving intermittent rain since this afternoon.
