Randhawa said that the executive would soon be calling department representatives and other office-bearers to chalk out a plan of action. Cultural Scene
Tiny tots steal the show
Tribune News Service

CHANDIGARH, Oct 6 — While youngsters made everybody sway and dance to the pulsating tunes along with them, it were tiny tots who stole the show with their performance at ''The Unknown Talent'', a dance show organised by the West-17, a dance institute, at the Sector 18 Tagore Theatre here this evening.

The show, an annual function of the institute, took off with ''shradhanjali'' to the Kargil heroes and gradually took the shape of a lively dance show with the ''dance party'' — the maiden dancing event — with Twinkle, Sankalp, Sonali, Raman and Nishant coming out with the best of their talent. Then there were Khushboo, Tina, Vibhuti and Shivani who put the floor to fire by presenting dance to the tune of ''Kahin karta hoga''.

Then came Mansavi, another student of the institute, with ''Kale kale baal, gaal gore gore, ore ore'' and earned a big applause from the gathering, mostly comprising parents of students. And what simply made them tap their feet was a dance number, a fusion of western and Indian classical, presented to the tune of ''Taal se taal mila'' by the whole team of the institute led by Nandan Singh, the trainer. It were the tiny feet of Divya and Sonali which danced to the tunes of ''Churi jo khanki'' and the old favourite ''Chin chin choo'' and quite naturally the hall echoed with claps.

''Dum maro dum'', which has been swaying young generations for the past two decades, was a big hit here also with Kanchan and Rocky dancing to its tune. Nandan, Rocky, Mohit, Savy and Vicky went on to dance on the tune of ''main Jatt yamla pagla diwana'', a famed Mohammed Rafi number, but the team failed to present expressions to the true sense of the song as what they presented was more of acrobatics than traditional Punjabi dance.Back
