Shopkeepers protest HUDA eviction bid
PANCHKULA, May 1 — An attempt made by officials of the local estate office of the Haryana Urban Development Authority to get booths evicted, given on lease in the Sector 15 market, attracted strong protests from the shopkeepers here this morning.

CHANDIGARH, May 1 — The Chandigarh Police and discotheque-operators in the city came to loggerheads today. The policemen tried to act as a self- appointed moral force by taking down addresses of the youngsters visiting the discos and stopping some from entering these.

Major cremated with military honours
