Sainiks

INDIAN soldiers,
Are like boulders,
Who stand shoulder to shoulder,
Forming a wall,
To protect us all.
They sacrifice their enjoyment and fun
For our safe today.
They are giving their today,
For our happy tomorrow.
They do not care for their lives,
Their children or wives.
They protect our country,
Working as sentries.
They live away from their homes,
In dark bunkers and domes.
Not caring for heat or snow
Watching the activities of the foe.
It may be China or Pakistan,
But their aim is to protect Hindustan.

— Aanchal Singla

Left alone

With a tear in my eye,
I sat underneath the sky,
As my heart was full of sorrow.
In the moonlight I sat down to cry.
As all the people asked me why,
I said being an orphan I was left all alone.
I never thought good times would come again
My heart was full of never-ending sorrows,
I asked my heart, "Oh, why? Oh, why?"

— Nimrat Kaur Sandhu

Oh, it is snowing!

Oh, it is snowing!
The downy flakes come down slowly,
The bushes and boughs are bowing,
Making the earth look hallowed and holy.
The snow is absolutely white,
In sunshine it gives a dazzling sight,
We can’t go out in the night,
Because we have to avoid cold and be quiet.
Our puppy is looking at us sadly,
Mama is upset with him terribly,
Because he went out,
And came back with a frozen snout.
