SRINAGAR, Oct 24 — The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the transfers and postings of 10 IAS officers and three KAS officers.

Cop, seven others killed in valley

SRINAGAR, Oct 24 (UNI, PTI) — Seven persons, including a woman and her son, and a security jawan were killed while four militants were captured in the Kashmir valley during the past 24 hours.

An official spokesman said militants attacked a security force camp with automatic weapons at Baflaz village last evening. The security forces also fired back and in the exchange three security jawans were injured and one killed. However, the militants managed to escape.

He said the security forces killed three militants including two foreign mercenaries during a search operation in the frontier district of Kupwara.

Militants hurled a hand grenade at a security force patrol at Anantnag in south Kashmir. However, the grenade missed the target and exploded on the roadside causing injuries to two persons.

He said unidentified militants set on fire five houses at Shoolipora in the central Kashmir district of Badgam after forcing the inmates to leave their houses.

Four militants were captured and some arms and ammunition seized across the valley during overnight operations.

Constable Mohammad Yasin and two of his family members were killed by militants after they forced their entry into their house at Shah Mohalla-Guzriyal in Kupwara district.Top

 

J&K transfers and postings

SRINAGAR, Oct 24 — The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the transfers and postings of 10 IAS officers and three KAS officers.

The Director of Information, Mr KB Jandial, and Mr Vijay Kotwal, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Labour, Employment, Science and Technology and Information Departments, are among those transferred.

Mr Jandial has been transferred and posted Administrator, Jammu municipality.

Mr PK Jain on return from foreign training has been posted Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayats.

Mr Khursheed Ahmad Malik, Special Secretary, Forest Department, has been transferred and posted Special Secretary, Revenue Department.

My Shyam Lal, Administrator, Jammu municipality has been transferred and posted Special Secretary, Forest Department.

Mr RK Thusoo, Executive Officer, Jammu municipality, has been transferred and posted Additional Secretary, Higher Education Department vice Mr Gowhar Ahmad.

Mr Gowhar Ahmad, Additional Secretary, Higher Education Department, has been transferred and posted Additional Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department.

Mr Vipul Pathak, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, has been transferred and posted Additional Secretary, Home Department. Mr Ashok Kumar Parmar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, has been transferred and posted Additional Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department. Mr Asghar Ali Samoon is the new Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag.Top
