Preity ZintaAs pretty as
Preity can be

By Madhur Mittal

HAIL the new scintillating star on the filmi horizon — ! A challenge for all the young heroines of today because of the fact that she’s younger still.

If you remember, filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor had announced her name as the leading lady of his film, Ta Ra Rum Pum Pum, over an year in the past tense. But I guess she was destined for a greater (and more dramatic) debut. So it is Kumar and Ramesh S. Taurani of TIPS who are giving Preity the opportunity to make her debut in Soldier, opposite Bobby Doel. And how!

Preity — very fair, very petite and very, very effervescent (you’d think you’d just uncorked a bubbly champagne bottle!) is a neat natural when it comes to dancing or emoting. With her light eyes, her gorgeous figure and oh, those dimpling cheeks, Zinta is a knockout in every way. So, hang on to your ever loving hearts. More on Soldier, soon.

Hustling Haasan

The one actor, filmmaker, innovator who simply cannot be put down happens to be our very own Kamal Haasan. I mean, quite akin to Dev saab, this man knows no world called "rest"!

He’s totally involved with his ambitious new project — the multilingual Marada-nayagam. Haasan is quite cocksure of being able to hustle his offering at the various intenational cinema fest podiums — and, what’s more, is decidedly upbeat about pocketing a few global awards for excellence in the field of creative motion picture making!

I hardly think Steven Spielberg is going to take too kindly to that.

Rikku revisited

Contrary to popular media-hype, Rikku Rakeshnath is no noisy, bragging boor. Sure he’s the guy who, as Madhuri Dixit’s secretary did not only help vitally in making her the queen bee but also landed himself into a whole lot of controversies and gossip headlines, as well!

Al l I can say after meeting him after a rather long gap, is that people are bound to be jealous of successful personalities. Particularly when person has risen up from a humble beginning. That’s precisely why some film folks simply can’t stand the self-made celebrity that Rikku is.

The cool Khan

Oh, yes, our man Kamaal Khan appears to be the latest in tinseltown.

With that one peppy, yuppie number of his Aa aa jaane jaana, in Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya — he has become the cool Khan who’s really popular with the females in Mumbai!

The guy is literally mobbed by females wherever he goes — be it the shopping mall, a five-star hotel, a disco or an eatery.

On his part, he’s certainly making the best/most of it by going around with one new gal or the other. You know those hiphop VJ and model types.

If everybody’s happy, who am I to crib or complain, yes?
