6 militants killed

SRINAGAR, Nov 7 — Six militants were among seven people killed in Jammu and Kashmir where security forces recovered 12 kg of RDX and militants torched seven houses since last evening. The security forces destroyed two militant hideouts and arrested two ultras while another militant gave himself up in the state during the period, an official spokesman said here today.

He said militants shot dead a fellow terrorist at Zanigam-Pattam today.

Another released militant was also gunned down at Bandgam-Soibugh in Badgam district of central Kashmir last night, he said, adding the police took out body of an unidentified person from the Jhelum near Amargarh under Shaheedgunj police station in the city today.

Two each top militants were killed in two separate encounters with security forces at Gandoh and Chachal-Banihal of Doda district of the Jammu region last night.

Four AK 56 rifles, 11 grenades, 13 magazines, a wireless set and some rounds of ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

Border security force jawans recovered 12 kg of RDX in a forward area of Ranbirsinghpora in the Jammu region last night.

Militants torched seven houses, six of them belonging to migrant Kashmiri Pandits, at Brah-Anantnag and Bandgam in Badgam district last night.

Two militants, including a self-styled section commander of outlawed Hizbul Mujahideen, were arrested from Baramula and Srinagar. An ultra belonging to Al-Burq militant outfit surrendered in frontier district of Kupwara yesterday.

The security forces smashed two militant hideouts, one each in Doda and Kupwara districts, and recovered a grenade launcher, a pistol, three hand grenades, 23 detonators, 25 metres of cordex wire, five rifle grenades and some ammunition.top
