SRINAGAR, Dec 21 — At least nine persons, including five civilians, were killed in the continued militancy related incidents across the valley since yesterday.

The police here said that four bodies were recovered from Kujar Kawdrang in the Kulgam area of Anantnag district today. Two of them have been identified as Ghulam Hassan Lone and Ghulam Rasool Dar. The identity of the two others is yet to be ascertained.

This followed an incident of the militants' attack on a taxi (2070 JKT) at Truck Truchloo in the same area yesterday.

Two militants of the Ikhwan-ul-Muslimeen were killed in the incident. They were identified as Gulzar Ahamd Dar and Abdul Salam Dar.

One woman identified as Shamima, was also injured in shootout, the police here today said.

Reports said that militants opened an indiscriminate fire on the taxi in which a group of Ikhwani militants were travelling.

The assailants ran away with three AK rifles of the counter-insurgents after the shootout, the police said.

Two militants were killed in an encounter with the security forces at Watanar Dooru in Anantnag district yesterday. They belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit and were identified as Mohammed Yousuf Mir alias Mumtaz of Watanar, and Mukhtar Ahmad, alias Adil, of Kharpora in the same area.

One civilian was killed by unidentified militants at Safapora in Baramula district last evening. He has been identified as Pridous Ahmad Chopan of Safapore Payeen. The police said that militants shot at and injured him near his house. He succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the hospital.
