PM for global action against terrorism
JAIPUR, Aug 22 — The Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee, today asked for a concerted international action against terrorism. Addressing the media on the second day of the BJP's national executive committee meeting here, the Prime Minister gave his tacit approval to the US missile attacks against the terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan and Sudan on Thursday night.

Three hundred thousand take holy dip
KURUKSHETRA, Aug 22 — Over 3 hundred thousand pilgrims today took a holy dip in the sacred tanks of Sannihit and Brahm Sarovar on the occasion of the solar eclipse. although, the solar eclipse lasted for only 20 minutes, thousands of pilgrims converged on the banks of the sacred sarovars.
40 victims' bodies airlifted
BAREILLY, Aug 22 — Rescuers, weathering incessant rains, recovered 40 bodies, including that of noted classical dancer Protima Bedi, as choppers today ferried 60 grieving relatives of Mansarovar pilgrims to Pithoragarh where a devastating landslide this week killed more than 200 persons.
Army rescues 28 boys from militants
SRINAGAR, Aug 22 — When armed militants brought 28 boys between the age group of 15 to 18 years from a cluster of villages in south Kashmir, the youth had hardly any hope of joining back their families. As the Army launched chase of the militants on Wednesday last, the teenagers had a chance to escape and return to their families.

DHARMSALA, Aug 22 — Tension is mounting here in McLeodganj, headquarters of the Tibetan-government-in-exile as over 120 Shugden Dorjee supporters, are planning to "gatecrash" at the six-day Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) convention, beginning here on August 27.
USA warns of more strikes:Laden threatens to retaliate
WASHINGTON, Aug 22 — The USA warned of more strikes against terrorist bases, even as Saudi billionaire Osama bin Laden, prime suspect in the bombings at American Embassies in Tanzania and Kenya, today threatened retaliation against missile attacks on Afghanistan and Sudan which have attracted the wrath of the Muslim world.
