Trust the Punjab traders thirsty for a VAT refund: A company claimed that it transported industrial goods from Ludhiana to Guwahati, going over 2,000 km, on a two-wheeler within two days. Another mentioned it sent cycle parts to Guwahati and Manipur on a moped, while the third said it sent motor parts to Seoni in MP (over 1,200 km) on a motorcycle, which reached the destination in two days.

Indicating Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government’s resolve to move from “populism” to “realism”, Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today underlined the BJP's mantra of “minimum government, maximum governance” even as the Congress accused the government of pursuing RSS agenda. 

J-K killings : Inquiry begins amid protests
Srinagar, November 4
The Army has initiated an inquiry into the killing of two civilians by its soldiers in a firing incident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Badgam district. A Colonel of the Rashtriya Rifles has been deputed to probe the circumstances which led to the killing of a youth and a teenager, who were buried amid protests on the outskirts of the city. A spontaneous shutdown was also observed in the region.

The Supreme Court has refused to review its verdict setting March 31, 2015 as the deadline for completion of the widening work on the 291-km Panipat-Jalandhar highway, forming part of NH-1. Under the project, two additional lanes are being constructed by Soma Isolux within the time-line, failing which the company would have to pay penalty.
