6 made-in-India subs for Navy
Govt clears defence projects worth Rs 80,000 crore
New Delhi, October 25
The Defence Acquisition Council on Saturday cleared military equipment purchase proposals worth  Rs 80,000 crore and decided that six submarines will be made indigenously. Clearance was also given to purchase of over 8,000 Israeli anti-tank missiles, 362 infantry carrying vehicles, 12 upgraded Dornier surveillance aircraft and two midget subs for special operations.

Delhi’s Trilokpuri tense after fresh clashes; cops among 35 hurt; 70 held
New Delhi, October 25
Fresh clashes erupted in east Delhi's Trilokpuri locality today following which prohibitory orders were imposed. The situation remained tense in the area for the third consecutive day in the wake of a clash between two groups on Diwali night. More than 70 miscreants have been arrested and combing operations are on.

Netaji deputy, Nehru aide was Soviet spy: British files
London, October 25
A deputy of freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, an "old friend" of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and a former Indian ambassador, ACN Nambiar, has been described as a Soviet spy. According to documents declassified under the 30-year-rule at the National Archives here, Nambiar went to Berlin in 1924 as a journalist and worked with the Indian communist group, visiting Moscow as a Soviet "guest" in 1929. PCMS scam: SIT report nails PPSC members

The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) flouted its own rules and arbitrarily changed several procedures to recruit 312 medical officers in Punjab between 2008-09. This subversion of rules was done to ensure the entry of wards of the rich and powerful in the Punjab Civil Medical Service (PCMS) allegedly in exchange for money.
