Making a strong pitch to attract investments into India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today assured top American corporate honchos of tax stability and friendlier business environment in the country. Modi, who is on his maiden visit to the United States as Prime Minister, held meetings with a galaxy of American corporate executives, including those from Boeing, PepsiCo, Google, KKR and General Electric.

Khanna SSP suspended, 4 dismissed
Chandigarh, September 29
The Punjab Government today suspended Khanna SSP Harish Kumar Bansal and dismissed four others for their alleged involvement in the Jamalpur killings case. Two Dalit brothers - Harinder Singh and Jatinder Singh - were allegedly killed by a Khanna police party in Jamalpur on September 27.

Nod to 1-yr rural stint for medics at PG level New Delhi, September 29 MBBS graduates pursuing postgraduate (PG) studies will soon have to compulsorily serve one year in villages before they get their PG degrees. In a move meant to address shortage of medical practitioners in rural areas, the BJP Government has asked the Medical Council of India (MCI) to change the existing three-year medical PG course to accommodate within its duration a year-long mandatory village posting for medics pursuing PG.
